Complications of Breast Implants| Capsular Contracture

breast implants
This is a condition in which scar tissue or ‘capsule’ that forms around the implant tightens and press on the breast implant. Capsular contracture is more common in cases of sub-glandular placement (behind the mammary gland and near chest) of the implant. Symptoms of capsular contracture range from mild discomfort to severe pain, distorted, or view or movement of the implant. For cases that are particularly severe, you will require additional surgery, which can even include the replacement of the implant. However, there is no guarantee that capsular contracture does not appear again after additional surgery.

So what can be done to avoid it? Obviously, not everything is in your hands, you can do very little about the possible contamination during implantation, the development of extra fluid around the implant (seroma) and internal bleeding (hematoma). However, some lifestyle factors such as smoking, may also cause capsular contracture, and you can ensure that the implant is placed under the chest muscle rather than on it. If your surgeon says it can not be achieved, maybe you should reconsider your decision to submit to a breast implant now.

If you want to try a nonsurgical treatment, you have to take antibiotics prescribed some tablets and Vitamin E. In fact, vitamin E is more a preventive than curative, and that helps keep the soft tissues.
